# Botár György Csíktapolca, 1726. április 1. - Pécs, 1797. július 22. *jezsuita szerzetes, hittérítő* Tizennyolc éves korában, 1743 október 17-én Trencsénben belép a jezsuita rendbe. A próbaidő után 1746-ban Szakolcán végezi a tanárképzőt, utána Rozsnyón egy évig grammatikát tanított. 1648–50 között bölcseletet tanult Nagyszombatban. Ezután egy évig Kőszegen tanított középiskolában. Teológiai tanulmányait Nagyszombatban végezte, ahol 1757-ben pappá szentelik. Képzését a harmadik próbaévvel fejezte be Besztercebányán. Papi működését 1759-ben Pécsen kezdi el mint hittérítő. A hittérítő munka hat év után megtámadta az egészségét, két évig Egerbe kerül betegállományba, attól kezdve nem tud többé hittérítő munkát végezni. 1761 február 2-án leteszi a negyedik fogadalmát. 1768-ban Ungváron, 1769–72-ben Székelyudvarhelyen és 1773-ban Egerben a háztörténetek írásával foglakozik, 1797-ben Pécsen halt meg. --- # Agent Instructions: Querying This Documentation If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.
